Using the Children's Zone

The Children's Zone has three online activities that vary in ability levels.

The activity Jigsaw encourages young children to develop their mouse control and word processing skills through constructing the front page of a newspaper. The activity helps children to think about the different parts of a newspaper. This is suitable for KS1.

Sunlight Soap is suitable for KS2 and asks the pupils to explore an advert and think about the persuasive language contained in it. They then construct their own advert and have the option to print their work.

The activity Obituaries is for KS3 and requires students to read a variety of World War One obituaries. They are encouraged to look at the structure and content of the reports then write a report for a different soldier.

All activities are excellent extension activities to the materials and resources in the Teacher's Zone and are best completed in pairs or groups of three.
