Impressions of war

What did the British people think about their men fighting in a war? The fact that World War One was called the "Great War" gives some understanding of popular opinion. However, what do the letters and adverts that were printed in the newspapers during this time show about the feelings of the general public and the opinions of the government?
The activities in this section will provide the students with written accounts from two soldiers that were printed in a newspaper during 1916.
