What would you send him?
  Impressions of war
  Censoring a newspaper
  Using the Children's Zone

This theme concentrates on newspapers during wartime. In particular the First World War and the Accrington 'Pals' battalion who fought and died at the Battle of the Somme. The activities encourage the students to look at poetry, censorship and propaganda in adverts, letters from the front line, ration parcels that were sent to the front line and opinions of people and government during the time.

Most of this theme is suitable for KS3 and top KS2, however some activities such as Adverts and What to send him for Easter? are more appropriate for younger pupils.
