Every
religion has its own calendar that is governed by festivals. It
is interesting to see that many festivals from various religions
happen at similar times of the year. For example, the Jewish festival
of Hanukkah is usually in the Autumn months along with the Hindu
festival of Diwali.
This topic
provides teachers with stories from three religions. Each story
has been translated or paraphrased from a special religious manuscript
and provides a suggestion on either how to read and share the story
as a class activity, or how to use the story as a springboard into
learning about the festival.
