Information and communication technology

Exchanging and sharing information

Pupils should be taught to present their completed work effectively (for example, for public display). (3b)

Reviewing, modifying and evaluating work as it progresses

Pupils should be taught to describe the effects of their actions. (4b)

Breadth of study

During the key stage, pupils should be taught by working with a range of information to investigate the different ways it can be presented (for example, information about the Sun presented as a poem, picture or sound pattern) (5a). Exploring a variety of ICT tools (for example), word processing.(5b)

En1 Speaking and listening

Listening.

To listen, understand and respond to others, pupils should be taught to remember specific points that interest them.(2b)

Breadth of study

Speaking - the range should include: telling stories, real and imagined. (8a) Reading aloud. (8b).

Listening - the range should include opportunities for pupils to listen to (9c) recordings.

En2 Reading

Literature

To develop their understanding of fiction, poetry and drama, pupils should be taught to: (3d) learn, recite and act out stories and poems, (3f) respond imaginatively in different ways to what they read.

The range should include: (6c) retellings of traditional folk and fairy stories, (6d) stories and poems from a range of cultures.

Non-fiction and non-literary texts

The range should include print and ICT-based information texts. (7a)

En3 Writing

Writing

The range of purposes for writing should include exploring experience. (9c)

Developing, planning and communicating ideas

Pupils should be taught to: (1a) generate ides by drawing on their own and other people's experiences, (1c) talk about their ideas.

Working with tools, equipment, materials and components to make quality products

Pupils should be taught to select tools, techniques and materials for making their product from a range suggested by the teacher. (2a)

Breadth of study

During the key stage, pupils should be taught the knowledge, skills and understanding through focused practical tasks that develop a range of techniques, skills processes and knowledge. (5b)
