Children at play

Every child from every background plays games; it is an essential part of growing up. As children develop and grow up so do the types of activities.

This topic uses images of Victorian children playing outdoor games. It looks at the different type of activities a child would have participated in from infancy to adolescence.

This page includes an illustration from "The Graphic Portfolio" dated 1876, which depicts children watching a pantomime with a few chaperones.
