"Getting the Message Across" explores how messages are conveyed and understood in a variety of ways. Images in comics, advertisements, maps and illuminated religious manuscripts all portray different messages. The topics make use of images that are in The British Library's collection and they offer examples of different ways of conveying a message. They give both the teacher and child an interesting starting point for thinking about literacy in a cross-curricular context. Some of the pictures provided are a unique resource. Nazi stamps are not a usual resource for studying the Second World War, yet give an amazing and interesting insight into social history of that era and are suitable for KS2 and KS3.
