Horn
Book: Activity
1
Make
a horn book
Follow the instructions below
to make your own horn book. For the text you could have the alphabet,
phonic sounds, homophones, or pneumatics.
 Instructions
|
1.
Cut a rectangle with a handle at the bottom out of thick
card, this is your base. It can be any size, however 20cm by 12cm
is a good size. Next cut to size, two strips of card that are 12cm
by 2cm and two strips of card that are 20cm by 2cm, or to fit the
top and sides of your book.
|
 |
|
2.
Glue the two longer pieces along the longer sides of your base.
Only glue along the outer edge. Try and ensure that there is a little
gap between the rectangle and side cards. This is so that the paper
will slide between them.
|
|
3.
Cut one piece of paper and one piece of clear plasticto
fit in the opening. You could use acetate or part of an A4 plastic
folder When the glue is dry, slide the paper and plastic in the
space between the two pieces of card. Do not glue it in as it needs
to be removable.
|

|
 |
4.
Fix the two smaller pieces of rectangular card onto the
short edges of the base and on top of the plastic then fix all the
cards, plastic and rectangle together with a paper fastener in each
corner.
