Paper Strip Book

This is an unusual book as it does not have a beginning, middle or end. It is a chronicle of world history from creation to 1595. It is written in German and dates from the sixteenth century. This book is an excellent example of how a book does not necessarily have to have an identical story each time it is read. The book does not adhere to typical linear chronology.

This is an excellent book for children of all key stages to explore. Through the process of making this book, children will be encouraged to write freely and developmentally without the worry of structure. It will help, in particular, children who find writing a story, poem or event a chore because the structure confines their creativity. From this early stage of writing they will develop enthusiasm, interest and basic sentence formation so that they can progress onto writing frames and more structured forms of text.
